A Call To Mayor And Council To Release Water Tests – A Message From A Resident
Now is the time for the Town of Upper Saddle River and its Mayor and Council to step up to the plate and release their tests of surface water in USR and dispel the anxiety about Pleasant Brook pollution.
It has been over 6 months since the first famous “mud dumping in USR”. The citizens of Upper Saddle River ask you to release your tests taken before and after Toll Brothers’ storm water alleged violations.
A few months ago, Assemblywoman Holly Schepisi called for such tests and DEP investigation, CBS2 Reporter Lisa Rozner inquired about them in her NY segments on April 23, 2018. At the time of the recording, “none of the government agencies would answer whether they would test the water” according to Lisa Rozner.
How about now? How much can such a water test can cost?
Also Tom Nobile from “The Record” wrote about USR residents demanding “backyard stream tested for arsenic, lead because of construction runoff”.
Finally FIOS1 reporter EmilyFiosOne reported about the water testing need in her braking news program that aired on Sunday night April 29, 2018.
Recently public website covering expenses associated with another alleged plastic PVC pollution in Upper Saddle River reported estimated costs of a legal counsel in excess of $460,000.
If USR M&C can afford close to half a million dollars to spend on “$5 a piece – plastic PVC litigation” one would assume that the same M&C can spare few dollars to conduct simple water test for presence of deadly arsenic and lead in Pleasant Brook.
Pleasant Creek and Saddle River runs by my home on west saddle River Road and as of 8/5 @ 815pm, the yellowish muddy tinge continues to flow. SR merges with PC and I noticed before the merge, SR is colorless and perfect. I am concerned for my health and the fact I have well water. Going to USR town hall to demand a home and or PC contaminant test.
Thank you for your comment and update on the water conditions in the rivers and streams. The fact that this has been going on for 6 months is worrying, but worse it appears that the administrations of Upper Saddle River and Mahwah aren’t addressing this with Toll Brothers. Or if they are aren’t saying anything to allay any fears. Please keep us posted on how this progresses and what they say. You can comment or send an email. Good luck!
