What a surprise to see the arrival of colorful door hangers decorating some front doors in town.
Courtesy of the Borough of Upper Saddle River.
A lovely pink warning slip about some municipal infraction.
The list of possible areas of concern is very comprehensive and some lucky homeowners got one.
Interesting.
Upper Saddle River has someone driving around town, looking for issues of concern and alerting homeowners.
Seriously?
But isn’t this the same town that allowed Toll Brothers to pump toxic stormwater into the Pleasant Brook multiples times a week for at least 700 days?
That poisoned some wells? In town and beyond.
And didn’t stop Toll Brothers or fine them?
Wasn’t this the town that was unable to notice the clear lack of preventative measures at the construction site to ensure there was no stormwater runoff to flood the streets?
Which happened several times, but once it became impossible to ignore finally actioned a Stop Work Order?
Is this the same town that has not fined Toll Brothers?
The same town where the mayor and council hasn’t shown any rage about the destruction that has occurred – in their town, and on their watch – and sat about silently, until forced to act?
Yet, they can find someone to go out and prowl the streets of town looking for issues that homeowners need to address.
And, of course, if they don’t deal with it they will be fined.
Yet, the behemoth developer with a long history of environmental damage runs rings round the town and the mayor and council sit in silence until they are absolutely forced to act.
So interesting.
And ironic.
Which leaves the question, whose interests are they really looking after?
