Saddle River – Monday February 3, 2020
Tonight Saddle River Mayor & Council Working Session
On the agenda?
Here – opens very slowly
Not on the agenda: the continued deer hunt. Despite the Wildlife Management Plan there are many residents who are still unhappy that a deer cull is continuing, and won’t be discussed by the mayor and council. The Animal Protection League of New Jersey have called for attendance at this meeting to take up the situation as there are alternatives to culling the deer.
Of interest The League has posted a video of the deer slaughter facility in Saddle River. As caring and compassionate a town as Saddle River is the facility is next door to the borough school. As in right on the fence. Where children can see the results of the towns sporting games. But this comes from a town that in the first year of the cull wouldn’t inform residents when hunters were working, and the children’s playground was one of the hunting areas.
While at the meeting it is hoped that residents might bring up the brown water that has been pumped from Toll Brothers Upper Saddle River and reached their river, turning it brown twice in recent weeks. As some wells are having issues of integrity this is worth questioning. And one has to wonder why the mayor and council of Saddle River haven’t filled a formal complaint with Upper Saddle River.
Airmont Board of Trustees Meeting – February 3, 2020
Also CUPON Mahwah is expected to continue addressing the ongoing issues on Hillside Avenue.
Upper Saddle River – February 6, 2020
Upper Saddle River Mayor & Council
Agenda – None yet.
Hopefully what will be on the agenda is the recent pumping by Toll Brothers from Orchard Ridge Preserve on two occasions that turned Pleasant Brook brown. Again. (more to come on this)
Mahwah February 6, 2020
Agenda – None yet.
A recent newsworthy item regarding the mayor and has some calling for his resignation. Whether this is something or nothing is unclear, however, if there is a chance of leadership in Mahwah it may impact the town’s handling of Toll Brothers so this is worth following.
Whomever attends the USR Mayor and Council meeting, they should ask where is it stated what the salaries are for all town employees, a list that they are required to present to the public at the first mayor and council meeting of the year(jan). I do not think it was presented. As taxpayers, we pay these salaries and we should know what they are!
Also, on 1/15/20 pleasant brook was tested. The results are on the town’s website with absolutely no information relating to the numbers. Obviously, they think we are all biologists and chemists and we should know the information!
Finally, what’s with the brown water in pleasant brook???? We should demand that the M and C put into affect another stop order until the situation is resolved. Every time it rains, the issue arises.
Agree completely. As usual the mayor and council are asleep.
