After a week with news that overwhelmed your mind and drained your emotions it is time for something a little different. And hopefully uplifting.
March 21st is World Poetry Day. Officially created by UNESCO this is the day that rhyming word phrases are celebrated. Why you may ask?
Poetry reaffirms our common humanity by revealing to us that individuals, everywhere in the world, share the same questions and feelings. Poetry is the mainstay of oral tradition and, over centuries, can communicate the innermost values of diverse cultures….
Reminding us that poetry has the “power to shake us from everyday life” and with almost the entire planet in lockdown arising from a pandemic that is altering life as we know it what better time than now to find something to raise us up? Or at least give you something to smile about? The poet Ogden Nash might have a suggestion. A local man from Rye, New York Nash was known for his ‘whimsical’ light verse. Who better to lighten the mood of a dark week.
A Word To Husbands
To keep your marriage brimming
With love in the loving cup,
Whenever you’re wrong, admit it;
Whenever you’re right, shut up.
Some advice that many could possibly use right now, not just husbands…..
Feeling better?
No?
If not try this.
