Could Upper Saddle River Brown be the Pantone Color of the Year?
While you were distracted with the Super Bowl, The Academy Awards, Valentines Day and numerous other distractions of the quiet winter months you may have missed what is still going on.
Toll Brothers Orchard Ridge Preserve are at it again. Pumping. Purging. Discharging. Leaking. Draining.
Call it what you will, toxic is toxic.
And whatever fancy word they choose to give it the water of Pleasant Brook is brown.
Again.
Currently in week who knows – it started January 3, so just keep adding weeks.
And no one is doing anything.
Unless you count a visit from Bergen Soil Conservation District who say it is ok.
And CBS News Lisa Rozner who is trying to get some answers on the situation. And it really would be very helpful if the mayor actually responded to the multiple emails that were sent.
So despite the Stop Work Order that did actually stop the toxic water pumping into Pleasant Brook for several months it has started and continues.
A couple of interesting points to consider – if Toll Brothers could stop the pumping / discharging / leaching during the months of August / September / October / etc why have they started now? What happened to all the water in the tanks during the time when the Stop Work Order was in force????
Where did it go?
And if residents of Upper Saddle River are fined for pumping pool water, or house water onto the street or into local streams and have to have appropriate sized tanks installed on their property – and are fully inspected by the borough code official – why not Toll Brothers?
And why aren’t residents pounding on the officials of borough hall over this? Everyone is drinking this water in some form or another. Crappy water does impact housing prices.
And – once again – where are the Upper Saddle River Environmental Committee?
Don’t you wonder what exactly Toll Brothers gave for all the silence?
