It sounds like a broken record.
Where is the Planning Board?
For the 4 straight months the Planning Board meeting has been cancelled.
Planning Board Notice of Cancellation
Please be advised that the Planning Board Meeting scheduled for Thursday, August 22nd has been cancelled.
And the question is why?
Just a statement. No explanation.
It can’t be there is nothing to discuss. With the amount of construction currently going on in town there is plenty to consider and discuss. The Stop Work Order that has been upgraded to partial is just one thing that jumps to mind.
It’s not like there is no need for oversight. Or that it doesn’t fall under there jurisdiction.
The Upper Saddle River Planning Board fulfills the responsibilities of both a Planning Board and a Zoning Board of Adjustment. It consists of volunteers appointed by the Mayor who are responsible for preparing the Borough’s Master Plan, subdivisions, site plan review and residential variances in compliance with the requirements of the NJ Municipal Land Use Law.
NOTICE: PLANNING BOARD MEETING TIME CHANGE: PLANNING BOARD MEETINGS WILL NOW BEGIN AT 7:00 P.M.Their responsibility also includes making recommendations to the governing body regarding a change to the zoning ordinances, official map and capital improvements within the Borough of Upper Saddle River.
A cancelled meeting is acceptable.
Cancelling 2 meetings in succession is questionable.
Cancelling 4 months worth of meetings should be setting off alarm bells.
What is going on?
Do we need a search party?
At the June Mayor and Council meeting, the Mayor recommended that I should attend a planning board meeting as I asked them, has there been any discussions about planning for the influx of people with both Orchard Ridge and 1 Lake St. developments. Their only answer to me is that the town may “need to enlarge the road”. Surprised by this response, I decided to attend a planning board meeting. Unfortunately, there hasn’t been one! I also reviewed the minutes from previous planing board meetings and the last one posted on the town’s website is April 10th 2019. Does that mean that there hasn’t been a planning board meeting since then? If elected, there will be NO planning board meeting cancellations. There is so much that needs to be done to prepare for the next 2-5 years.
Hi Citizens 4 USR –
I am so sorry for what is going on in your town and apathy of local government. Have you contacted CUPON of Rockland County? They have done alot of work in their region to address overdevelopment and the consequences of it in their region. More of these types of grass roots organizations are forming in NJ. I read there are a few groups in Bridgewater in Somerset County. Citizens have to unite and go to planning and zoning board meetings to hold local officials accountable. Communities need to plan so future generations can enjoy and benefit from lovely towns and strong public schools in NJ. Otherwise we will become another congested “borough” of NYC!
